I took my mom (also immigrant) t...I feel your pain! I took my mom (also immigrant) through the whole medicare system to get her on MS medication. It was a torturous process involving me taking many days off work, shlepping my newborn daughter and my mom downtown and waiting for HOURS until we could see a neurologist. There were also endless tests and I had to drive her to them all. In the end - SHE REFUSED THE MEDS! It was a difficult time for me because I had to learn to let go. She had to make her decisions and live with them (like your dad). You are an amazing daughter (and writer), but some walls just don't budge. It's not you.
